Philatelic Exporter review, courtesy of David Rennie (March 2009): In 17 A4 landscape format pages the author deals with the ¼d to 1½d values, with a large easily readable typeface, and good enlarged colour illustrations. There is a good explanation of the Key and Duty type method of printing, especially as required by Fiji, and the make-up of the printing plates etc. The author explains the various types of flaws which may be found and how they are accidentally produced during the plate-making and printing process.. Then taking each value in turn, he describes and illustrates the more obvious contant varieties, good enough to be seen under a glass, but not sufficiently noteworthy to achieve catalogue status. The War Stamp overprints are also included. The final six pages are tables by value and issue, listing all the varieties so far discovered and giving sheet positions where known. |
