Philatelic Exporter review, courtesy of David Rennie (July 2008): About 300pp deal with the issues of the various States, the Empire, Reich and modern Germany, as well as Saar, Gdansk, Bohemia & Moravia, Occupation issues etc.; Whilst the catalogue is based on these collecting areas, the cataloguing within these sections is according to types of postal stationery (envelopes, postcards etc.) in chronological order according to issue date. In this edition, the Bohemia and Moravia and the very extensive section of Deutsche Post's own issues have both been reorganized, the latter according to sender details with parts being presented in tabular format. This provides collectors with a quick overview and also allows them to find out how and where they can improve their collections. This volume goes far beyond the contents of the MICHEL Postal Stationery Catalogue for Germany (which is published in alternate years), especially in the listing of themes and motifs. It is therefore an invaluable source of reference for collectors of motifs, themes and homeland items. Prices are given for unused cards, first day or special cancellations as appropriate and about 5000 prices have been revised in this edition.. A further 100+pp provides a very extensive Alphabetical list of themes or places, a Concordance of geographical names with alternate spellings or translations , a Zip code/Postcode index, and a list of German certificating experts. ; ;; |
