Prisoners of War in British Hands During WWI

Prisoners of War in British Hands During WWI - A Study of their History, the Camps and their Mails, by G Mark.

Published by The Postal History Society, 2007.  H/B, 258pp.

A study of the British camps and ships used from 1914 to 1915 to hold prisoners of war and internees.  Major civilian and military camps are discussed, as well as work camps, British-owned camps in France, and other sites used to detain PoWs, such as prisons and hospitals.  A list of escapees, taken from information from newspaper reports, is also included.  Inward and outward mail statistics are detailed, and postcards and postal and censorship markings are illustrated in black and white.
