English Inc miniature sheets, booklets, postage dues, Cyprus, Gibraltar ; Philatelic Exporter review, courtesy of David Rennie (October 2008): I did not see the 1st edition published in 2005, so this is new to me. Despite the title this volume also includes Heligoland, Ionian Islands and the British Post Offices in Crete. It is in colour throughout and includes issues to the early part of 2008. Prices for issues to 1970 have been taken from the latest (2009) Empire, and the later Queen Elizabeth issues have been reviewed and re-priced for this volume. Looking at the Empire mentioned, new items appear to have been added, namely Cyprus 7b the Double Surcharge on the ½d on 1d plate 220, Gibraltar 8w, the QV ½d Inverted watermark, and Malta Z11a 1d perf 16, and 103g, 111c both the 2s Nick in Top Right Scroll varieties. Since SG clearly have the information, it would certainly benefit collectors to have it shown in both volumes.; However the revised numbers for Malta 45aw, 45ax, 45ay (45w,x and y) mentioned and changed in the Empire, have not been up-dated in this volume. The use of Arrows to highlight plate varieties is something other catalogue publishers might emulate. There are 76 catalogue pages plus the usual notes, in the familiar 3-column layout, with sans-serif font on non-glare paper.  |
