The 1852 issue of the Papal States was reprinted on several occasions, and this study details the varieties of stamps that came about because of this.  Colour shades, paper type and thickness, forgeries, printing errors, stereotype defects, and watermarks are discussed in depth, and a shading comparison guide for Bolaffi, Sassone and CEI is provided.  There are also comparative charts of papers used.  Some tables are reproduced on a CD provided with the book.  Illustrated in colour and black & white.
